Japan has begun recalibrating its approach to its neighbors, even as it remains closely aligned with the United States. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi met with Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi, where both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in economic security, energy, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. They also discussed regional security, as bilateral trade continues to grow despite a decline in new Japanese investments.
