Hubble's Largest Galaxy Portrait of M101 - NASA Science

Thanks to the skies clearing out last night, I was able to get my telescope out for the first time in 2026! ​If you look up at the Big Dipper work binoculars or a telescope, you can see the Pinwheel Galaxy (M101). It is nearly twice the size of the Milky Way and contains a trillion stars. Because it faces us flat-on, we get a perfect view of its asymmetrical spiral arms that are warped by gravity from neighboring galaxies. #astrophptography | Ray Petelin Weather
