Behind the Scenes Tour: Raptor Mews 🦅 Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our Raptor Mews and Flight Cages! We have 11 Mews—essentially spacious apartments—for our bird of prey patients. These birds are recovering from injuries and illnesses, and the Mews provide them with a perfect environment to regain their strength through gentle exercise. Once they’re ready, they transition to our flight cages for more intensive flight conditioning, encouraging longer flights and more vigoro

Qigiq, a Snowy Owl and Raptor-in-Residence here at the Alaska Raptor Center, spending the day in the Raptor Weathering Yard. As part of their ongoing care, our Raptors-in-Residence must be exposed to natural weather elements each day. The Weathering Yard gives our residents a safe spot to perch during the day, while also exposing them to sunlight, rain and other elements, which are essential for their physical and mental health.
