Juvenile herring gull releases: another video! (Did you all spot the lesser black backed gull release too?) This week, we have returned 212 gulls back to the wild. This group of 24 were released in Saltburn. In this video, you can see the gulls all leave their crates. All of these gulls were rescued by extremely caring individuals, all concerned for the welfare of these orphaned birds. All brought to Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary for help. Incredible rescues! Herring gulls nest in our coastal towns

Splish splash! This herring gull was admitted after he was found unable to stand or fly, feathers covered in feces, and with an abrasion to one wing. He was pretty lethargic and it seemed like he was not able to use his legs at all, so we feared a spinal injury. Fortunately, after a day of rest and medical treatment, he started sitting up on his hocks a little bit, which was a good sign. We didn't find anything broken or any other serious injuries, so we filled a tub up with just enough water th
