May 4, 2013 · Tannerite claims any centerfire cartridge will detonate Tannerite. When I had multiple failures with .223 from an AR-15 at 25 yards and a direct hit on the bullseye target stuck to the jar, I emailed Tannerite to discuss the failures to detonate. I recieved no reply, not even an acknowledgement. Needless to say, I don't buy Tannerite anymore.

You can buy 2lbs of aluminum powder on ebay without any kind of license. 2lbs goes along way doing small batches. Ammonium nitrate can be bought of course at the feed store or at Walgreens. What he has is 24 bottles that are approx. 6" high and 2" in diameter filled with small white spheres. He also has a couple of other "jars" with grey catalyst in it.
