The Monastery of St Tikhon of Zadonsk, founded in 1905, is the first and oldest Orthodox monastery in this land and in the western world. Each year at the Memorial Day Pilgrimage, all are invited and welcome to come and share in the joy of the divine services, just as the thousands did at the first such Pilgrimage.

The Canadian Orthodox Monastery of All Saints of North America was able, by God’s blessing, to take possession of the new property in November 1991. Vladika Lazar named the property itself “New Ostrog” after the famous Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Montenegro. The candle factory was dedicated to the protection of St Vasili of Ostrog.

St Barbara Monastery was founded in 1992 with the blessing of His Grace, Tikhon, Bishop of San Francisco and the West. First located in downtown Santa Barbara and then in Goleta, the Monastery relocated to its present Santa Paula location in late 2005.

SS Mary and Martha Monastery was founded in 1989 under the auspicies of His Eminence, Archbishop Dmitri, Bishop of Dallas and the South, Orthodox Church in America (OCA). We have been in Wagener, South Carolina since June 1996, and are located on a sixty acre parcel of land, which is about 30 miles southwest of Columbia.

Published works to date include “Orthodox Prayer Book”, “Come, Follow Me”, “The Life of St Spiridon”, and “Edler Cleopa: In the Tradition of St Paisius Velichkovsky”, and “The Tumbled Stone”, a childrens book written and illustrated by Claire Brandenburg. The Monastery newsletter, “The Veil” is published three times a year.
