These landscapes are designed for a specific population, often with an specific purpose (e.g., encouraging seniors to get outside for exercise, sunlight and fresh air; enabling children to “blow off steam” during a hospital visit; helping patients learn to use a wheelchair on outdoor surfaces).

Through a close collaboration with the architectural team at Kaplin McLaughlin Diaz Architects as well as other team members, SSA has developed a site and landscape design for the modernized Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

Apr 27, 2022 · Memorial Hospital Miramar is a 124-acre site located in the City of Miramar. The campus-style project includes a 250,000-SF hospital, medical office buildings, maintenance facilities and outparcel facilities.

The hospital facility’s design includes streetscape, a major entry drive and plaza, and on structure gardens with fountains adjacent to the new maternity and surgical wards; therapeutic gardens with wheelchair-accessible raised planting beds; and a park adjacent to the Emergency Room area.

The fountain on the east side of the plaza, ‘Healing Waters’, offers immersive experiences in a one-of-a-kind transforming topographic contour, while ‘Falls’, the fountain on the west side, presents a hundred foot long rustic composition of tumbling flows, rough quarry limestone, trees and water plantings.
