When it was announced he'd be tackling another go at the Ghostbusters franchise by directing "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," he very knowingly shouldered both the impossible weight of fan expectations, as well as his own.

Plus, it’s going to be directed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman. As that sounds, the new Ghostbusters – what you might call Ghostbusters 3 – will likely have a lot of connections and tips of the hat to the two 1980s movies.

Jason Reitman (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) will produce the Sony Pictures remake of Idle Hands. Reitman is producing alongside Jennifer Todd and Suzanne Todd via their Team Todd banner. Gil Keenan also will produce, while Maia Eyre is overseeing the project at Sony.

Reitman headed The Montecito Picture Company, a film and television production company, with partner Tom Pollock. His television credits included the Emmy-nominated children's show The Real Ghostbusters (1986) and the Saturday morning animated series Beethoven (1994) for CBS.
