With that said, there are options... If it were me I'd tried to find a certified used luxery suv. You're probably looking closer to 30k but it will be a thousand times nicer riding than in a RAV4.

Yes, a luxury car will be more expensive to maintain. Brakes, oil changes, repairs, etc are all more expensive than a Subaru. If she's worried about that, I'd recommend buying a Certified Pre-owned car, or finding one still in warranty. $30k gets you a fairly new used luxury car.
