T.J. Watt may finally be close to getting the contract he has wants from the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Wednesday, during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter confidently stated that Watt will soon be one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt are stuck at a crossroads with their contract negotiations as Watt enters the last year of his deal. After Myles Garrett’s market-shattering $40 million per year deal with the Cleveland Browns in March, that threw off the calculus for Watt’s deal.

While it appears both Watt and the Steelers are eager to get a deal done, it doesn't sound like they are closing in on the particulars of such an agreement just yet.
