GM is recalling 597,630 trucks and SUVs equipped with potentially defective 6.2-liter V8 engines. Impacted models include the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and GMC Sierra 1500. The engines may have internal debris or an out of spec crankshaft,

The recall, issued over a problem with the 6.2L V8 gas engine, impacts 597,630 total vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall notice. GM found that the connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine parts have “manufacturing defects” that could lead to engine damage or failure.

The recall follows a January investigation​ by U.S. auto safety regulators into reports of engine failure in certain GM vehicles.
