Is now a good time to upgrade your iPhone? Not since the lights nearly went out on TikTok have U.S. consumers been so rattled. That might be an overstatement, but President Donald Trump has shown he has the power to save or cause trouble for companies that don’t adhere to his political agenda — and Apple is no exception.

Donald Trump is renewing calls for Apple to move iPhone production to the U.S., threatening a 25% tariff on devices not made stateside. The warning, posted on Truth Social, came with a reminder that he had already told Apple CEO Tim Cook he expects American-made iPhones for American consumers.

Trump advisor Kevin Hassett has played down the "tiny little tariff" on firms such as Apple and strangely insists consumers won't pay more for iPhones.
