Wagner died Thursday after being shot in an ambush attack. Two other officers were wounded, with one suffering serious injuries.

Brian Tellier, a suspended Lorain County corrections officer, was charged with multiple felony counts Friday stemming from a 2023 incident where he was accused of paralyzing a handcuffed inmate. Tellier also faces charges for a separate incident in Elyria.

Investigators are still looking for a possible motive surrounding Wednesday’s shooting of three Lorain police officers. They say the explosives found inside the suspect’s car has them wondering if this was all part of a bigger plan.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at Rocket Arena in downtown Cleveland. Wagner's family said the services are "for the family, and fellow officers."

After the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office flagged legal concerns with the original resolution, commissioners unanimously approved a revised resolution for the tax hike on July 1. The county must redo its public hearings because of the legal revisions.
