Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani had another first in his MLB career. Ohtani struck out in his first four plate appearances Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds, the first time he has done that in his eight seasons in the majors.

After some initial rumblings, the Dodgers have placed their promising rookie infielder on IL with shoulder bursitis.

Another target on the Dodgers' radar is Athletics closer Mason Miller, who would take over Tanner Scott's position due to his injury. Miller is a fantastic closer, but the A's would demand a high price for the All-Star.

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of Alex Freeland and placed infielder Hyeseong Kim on the injured list with left shoulder bursitis. Freeland, 23, heads to the Major Leagues for the first time in his career.
