John Hayden, a Coachella Valley Firebirds mainstay the past three years, and Seattle Kraken mascot Buoy were fishing in a stream when a bear appeared.

Buoy, who serves as the Seattle Kraken’s mascot, was revealed ahead of the organization’s second NHL season in 2022-23. The 6-foot tall, blue sea troll quickly garnered attention thanks to his fun and rather unusual look. That unusual look may have been what played a part in a scary recently uploaded encounter with a bear.
