Paul Pierce, like Celtics fans everywhere, couldn't hide his disappointment after losing superstar Jayson Tatum to an Achilles injury.

Jayson Tatum had surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon, the team announced Tuesday.

An eight to nine-month recovery for Tatum could potentially put him in play for a return to the court in January or February of 2026.

Tatum, who ruptured his right Achilles tendon during Game 4 of the Celtics-New York Knicks series, had a successful surgery to repair that part of his lower leg.

Boston blew the door off the Knicks in the third quarter en route to a massive win.

Jayson Tatum rupturing his Achilles tendon was far worse than Boston going down 3-1 in its second-round series, with Tatum now out for the remainder of this run (and likely next season).
