Just after 5 a.m. traffic cameras appear to show lanes are block on the northbound and southbound sides of the interstate.

Erin strengthens to a hurricane with max sustained winds of 75 MPH. The latest forecast track has Erin becoming a major hurricane this weekend. It could contain winds as high at 140 MPH by Monday morning just east of the Bahamas.

Minnesota’s Weather Authority has issued a Forecast First Alert for overnight and early Saturday. Strong storms are expected to develop with the potential of high wind and localized flash flooding. Friday has already been a warm and humid day with highs in the upper 80s.

Tracking afternoon highs in the mid 90s inland and near or just about 90 degrees along the coast. Feels like temperatures will be 108-112 this afternoon.

Of course, another warm day is ahead as highs will return to the low/mid 90’s. This will come with chance for isolated-to-scattered storms. A few morning showers will give way to a better chance of scattered storms from the late morning and afternoon. Not everyone will receive rain but keep an eye on the sky and First Alert Radar when outside.
