Aurora chasers are on high alert for possible geomagnetic storm conditions from March 4 to March 5. Northern lights possible at mid-latitudes.

Minor geomagnetic storms could cause a brighter-than-usual northern lights display across the northern United States on Tuesday night.

The northern lights may be visible as far south as New York and other parts of the northeast such as Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

The aurora borealis could be seen as far south as New York, Wisconsin and Wyoming on Tuesday thanks to a solar storm. A coronal mass ejection that occurred on Mar. 1 is headed toward Earth, with the potential to spark a geomagnetic storm.

Displays of Northern Lights are possible overnight on Tuesday, March 4, into Wednesday, March 5, in some northerly U.S. states.
