Ben Affleck has revealed why his version of Batman ultimately signaled trouble for his run as the superhero. The actor told GQ magazine that he took creative interest in the “older, broken, damaged” Bruce Wayne but the approach “started to skew too old for a big part of the audience.”

Ben Affleck gave an interview to GQ recently including surprisingly candid thoughts on the star's time playing Bruce Wayne/Batman for the DCEU. Among other things, Affleck says it was clear to him the storytelling was skewing too old when his own son was "too scared" to watch him play Batman.

Ben Affleck is leaving the Batman mask and cloak behind for good. In a cover story interview with GQ, the actor called playing Bruce Wayne for 2017’s Justice League an “excruciating experience” and said he had no interest in the superhero genre at all.
