Tropical Storm Gordon on Saturday was poorly organized and forecast to weaken into a depression by early Sunday.

Tropical Storm Gordon has weakened to a depression as it swirls through open waters in the Atlantic. The storm was located about 985 miles (1,580 kilometers) east of the northeast Caribbean on Monday.

The southeastern U.S. coast is at risk of flash flooding from a disturbance. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gordon has weakened in the Atlantic.

Gordon, which became a named storm Friday, was downgraded to a tropical depression Sunday in the Atlantic with no land threatened as Potential Tropical Storm 8 developed off the Carolinas.

Gordon weakened into a tropical depression over the weekend. The storm system is projected to strengthen back into a tropical storm later this week. It’s unclear where Gordon will eventually go or how strong it will be when it gets there.
