Detroit police are asking the public for help to find a suspect who shot and wounded a man on a city bus Wednesday. Officials said the shooting happened at about 7:25 a.m. on a Detroit Department of Transportation, or DDOT, bus in the area of Eight Mile Road and Mt. Elliott Street on the city's east side.

The stabbing and shooting have prompted Detroit police to conduct more random bus patrols. Fitzgerald said the police department already has a unit that patrols buses, but even more officers will be boarding buses around the city in an effort to protect drivers and passengers, and curb violence.
