According to The Athletic, Chelsea FC Women have beaten out Olympique Lyonnais and agreed terms with the San Diego Wave for the transfer of USWNT star defender Naomi Girma, with Chelsea paying the NWSL side a fee of $1.

The report adds that Chelsea are in the market to sign a new striker as they are looking to sell Christopher Nkunku for £65m. The French forward, who has started just three games in the Premier League this season, is wanted by Bayern Munich but the German club do not agree with Chelsea’s valuation.

Chelsea is reportedly looking to target another striker in the January window which could have consequences for other interested clubs, including Arsenal.
