Boston Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens, is facing a summer filled with tough decisions as the team contends with various payroll issues

As the Boston Celtics enter the upcoming offseason, the team has a lot of uncertainty around the roster. While Boston does have more of its core signed for years, there is a heavy expectation that the Celtics will be active this summer.

The Celtics will only have access to the veteran minimum contract as second apron team. They are currently $20 million over the second apron. However, if Boston does trim enough payroll to get under the second apron, they would get access to the taxpayer mid-level exception in free agency ($5.6 million).
