Paired with the Arctic air comes robust lake-effect snow beginning on Sunday. While the snow will initially target lakeshore counties, wind will eventually blow snow much further inland. Cold will be intense enough to make salt much less effective on the roads.

EST a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Sunday at 1 p.m. EST for Alger, Luce and Schoolcraft counties.

Portions of Pennsylvania and New York are under a lake-effect snow warning on Tuesday as heavy accumulations are possible.
