A 17-year-old hiker suffered “significant thermal burns” on his foot and ankle after coming in contact with a geyser at Yellowstone National Park on Monday, officials said. The unidentified teen sustained the injury while on a hike through a thermal area near Lone Star Geyser in the Wyoming section of the beloved national park,

His foot broke through the thin crust of the thermal area, and he suffered burns to his lower leg in the scalding water. Emergency medical crews responded to the incident and transported the teenager to the hospital for treatment.
