Gyokeres has now agreed to give up his salary for July, which is worth €350,000 (£306,000), but Sporting have allowed the striker to keep the bonus payments he received for last season, including €500,000 (£437,000) for over 50 goals and assists combined.

Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Sporting CP for the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres. The Premier League side will pay an initial €63.5million (£54.8m; $74.2m) plus €10m in add-ons. Gyokeres has been given permission to travel by Sporting and is expected to undergo his Arsenal medical on Saturday.

Arsenal’s quest to sign Gyökeres has veered on the fringes of farcical in recent weeks. Negotiations with Sporting CP have seemingly been conducted in the public eye, with each twist and turn rapidly leaked to the press in between explosive outbursts from the Portuguese champions’ president, Frederico Varandas.
