Jenks dedicated Oklahoma's first Purple Heart Garden at Veterans Park to honor service members wounded or killed in combat.

The City of Jenks Veterans Advisory Council will hold an official dedication ceremony of the new Purple Heart Garden.

The treasurer launched a special effort, “Operation Purple Heart,” in late 2021 to raise awareness about unclaimed medals. Medals awarded to WWII veteran Edward Gorski Jr., who died in 1993.

The Purple Heart Foundation hosted its annual banquet in Welcome, celebrating veterans who were wounded or killed in service.
