The Pentagon is ending the deployment of all but 250 National Guard troops that remained in Los Angeles who were originally sent to the city to deal with protests over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

Only 250 California National Guard troops of the roughly 4,000 deployed to Los Angeles last month remained on duty Thursday after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved sending home roughly 1,350 troops,

In response to the Pentagon's announcement of the release of the Guardsmen in Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass said on X, "Another win for Los Angeles tonight: 1,000 more troops are retreating."
