Voters across the state will elect two new members to the leadership boards at Wayne State University, Michigan State University and University of Michigan on Tuesday.

On the Michigan State University board of trustees, Republican real estate broker Mike Balow won a seat with 25.1% of the votes. Fellow Republican Julie Maday, a former Novi City Council member, had a slight lead over Democrat Rebecca Bahar-Cook as of mid-day Wednesday.

Two positions are open in Michigan State University's Trustees race in the 2024 November general election. Running as Democrats are Rebecca Bahar-Cook and Thomas Stallworth III. Republican candidates are Mike Balow and Julie Maday. The board has eight seats with eight-year term lengths.

Republican Mike Balow won one seat on the MSU Board of Trustees, but a winner for the second seat remained undecided on Friday.

An input error temporarily indicated Michigan State University’s Board of Trustees candidate Rebecca Bahar-Cook, a Democrat, had placed third in balloting in Tuesday’s election for two open positions.

Two seats are up for grabs in Wayne State Unviersity's Board of Governors race in the 2024 November general election. Some of the candidates include Democrats Rasha Demashkieh and Mark Gaffney and Republicans Michael Busuito and Sunny Reddy.
