The Gathering live-action universe, complete with movies, TV series, and more, is coming from Legendary Entertainment and Hasbro.

Not content with the animated series already in the works, Hasbro is working with Legendary to bring the beloved card game to the big screen.

The Gathering is getting the "universe" treatment, for better or worse. Hasbro announced via press release that it's teaming up with Legendary Entertainment to create not only a Magic: The Gathering live-action feature film,

Legendary Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment are teaming to create a live-action film and television universe based on Magic: The Gathering, the trading card game marking Hasbro’s first $1 billion brand. The first project to emerge from the deal will be a film, with TV series and other content to be developed as well as the universe expands.

The project is Hasbro’s latest plan to extract more money from its lucrative nerdy consumers.

The next MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) could be coming from MTG (Magic: The Gathering). Hasbro Entertainment, which owns the long-running Magic card game franchise, is partnering with Legendary Studios to create live-action movies and TV shows adapting its fantasy world.

It’s not clear how that project will interact with these Legendary movies, which a company exec called “a multimedia universe that thrills longstanding fans and creates a broad wave of new ones.” Published by Wizards Of The Coast,
