For the seventh time in his career, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was named the American League winner of the Silver Slugger award at second base. Altuve’s seven Silver Slugger awards match Ryne Sandberg for the most won by a second baseman.

Altuve’s seven Silver Sluggers are tied with former Chicago Cubs star Ryne Sandberg for the most by a second baseman in MLB history. Altuve sits No. 2 on the all-time postseason home runs list (trailing only Manny Ramirez), and he’s just one of three second basemen this century to win an MVP award (joining Dustin Pedroia and Jeff Kent).
