James Gunn's DCU is in desperate need of a Batman after the character made his universe debut in Creature Commandos.

Batman made a surprise appearance during the latest episode of the DCU animated series Creature Commandos, and James Gunn recently opened up that when we do meet the Caped Crusader, it’ll be without an origin.

In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Creature Commandos creator James Gunn and director Dean Lorey spoke about Batman’s inclusion in the latest episode. Gunn mentioned that the first edit of the episode featured more of Batman,

A huge cameo occurred in Creature Commandos. James Gunn explains the impact this character will have on the DCU's future.

"He already exists in this universe, just like when we come to the Superman movie and we see that Superman already exists, he's already known by the people in Metropolis," Gunn told Rotten Tomatoes. "We don’t need to hear the origin story again. That’s just a way to introduce that Batman is a part of this universe."

In an incredibly brief cameo, we see Batman on a roof where we know he subsequently takes Phosphorous down and that’s how he lands in Belle Reve.

The latest episode of Creature Commandos gives viewers a first look at Batman in the DC Universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran created. Episode 6 of the Max series offers the first glimpse of the Caped Crusdar in this new universe.
