After pummeling the Caribbean as a Category 3 hurricane over the weekend, Hurricane Erin has restrengthened to a Category 4 and is expected to bring life-threatening waves and rip currents up and down the East Coast.
The storm will remain a major hurricane through the middle of the week, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Hurricane Erin is forecast to continue growing in size, with hurricane-force winds extending up to 50 miles from its center.
Erin is a Category 4 hurricane again, the National Hurricane Center said in its 11 p.m. ET update Sunday, with sustained winds of 130 mph and tropical storm-force winds reaching out 230 miles. The storm was just under a thousand miles southeast of Cape Hatteras,
