Tropical Storm Iona became the first named storm of the 2025 hurricane season in the Central Pacific on Sunday evening local time. The storm was located over the ocean southeast of Hawaii, with winds near the center of around 50 miles per hour.
Severe storms were expected to rip across parts of the northern U.S. on Monday, bringing numerous hazards to multiple states.
While the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season started off relatively quiet, experts say that’s not likely to last much longer.
