“ No Other Land,” which won the best documentary Oscar, was made by an Israeli-Palestinian collective including Abraham, Ballal, Basel Adra and Rachel Szor.

In March, just weeks after the documentary won an Oscar, an Israeli settler mob attacked and beat Palestinian filmmaker and activist Hamdan Ballal, in his home village of Susiya in Masafer Yatta.

Hamdan Ballal, one of the film’s four directors , which won the best documentary feature at the 2025 Academy Awards, was beaten by a mob of Israeli settlers in March and detained by the military.
