GM's Bold Shift: From Gas-Powered XT4 to Electric Bolt
General Motors is transitioning its Kansas plant from producing the Cadillac XT4 SUV to the Chevrolet Bolt EV, investing $390 million in the process. Production of the Malibu is ending, marking GM's pivot from traditional cars to crossovers and SUVs.
Cadillac Kills XT4 As GM Turns Fairfax Into EV Plant
Cadillac will end production of the XT4 SUV at its Fairfax, Kanas, plant in January. The site, which also loses the Chevy Malibu this month, will build the new Bolt EV next year. XT4 sales are down in 2024 and the SUV lost its base model for 2025.
