DEER PARK, Texas (AP) — A flame that towered over a southeast Houston suburb had subsided Tuesday, but continued to burn following a massive pipeline explosion after a vehicle drove through a fence and struck an above-ground valve, officials said.

A pipeline fire near Deer Park and La Porte was still burning early Tuesday after an SUV allegedly crashed into an above-ground pipeline valve Monday morning, possibly starting the fire. The city of Deer Park spokesperson Kaitlyn Bluejacket said local police won't be able to investigate further until the fire concludes.
