More water than ever is hurtling through Douglas Dam as TVA sends Helene's aftermath down through the Tennessee River.

A historic Tennessee dam is one of the countless heroes emerging from the devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene. The Nolichucky Dam outside Greenville has been doing its job of holding back The Nolichucky River since 1913.

The towns of Boyd's Creek, Kimberlin Heights, Kodak, Sevierville and Seymour were at particular risk of flooding from the French Broad River. At the flooded Deerfield Mobile Home Park, the county EMA is allowing residents to return to gather their belongings. Residents must check in and out with law enforcement officials on site, Ayres said.
