President-elect Donald Trump said he would not rule out the use of American military force to seize control of Greenland, a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Trump is not the first American president to consider the strategic appeal of the world’s largest island.

The incoming U.S. president has reiterated his desire to acquire the strategically important Arctic island of Greenland but his loud bid may not only be about security.
