One of the decisions Ten Hag can't botch is who starts in midfield. Casemiro returned to the starting team in the Carabao Cup in midweek, but he was dropped in the Premier League last weekend and Selhurst Park was the scene of his nadir in a United shirt last season.

United lost 4-0 on their last visit to Selhurst Park at the beginning of May. Many outsiders assumed the result would signal the death knell for Ten Hag as United boss. However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe opted to stick with the Dutchman, which means he has a chance to avenge that previous loss.

Crystal Palace youngster Samuel Lusale appears to have confirmed his impending move to Premier League rivals Manchester United. Palace bosses had high hopes for Lusale as he rose through the club’s academy ranks but the 17-year-old rejected the offer of a scholarship deal at Selhurst Park earlier this summer.
