Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Ted Hui said he’s been granted asylum in Australia, more than four years after he left the city to evade national security charges.

Hong Kong has summoned the UK and Australian consuls general to express “strong opposition” over the two countries granting asylum to activists wanted by the city's national security police.

A Hong Kong pro-democracy activist and a former lawmaker who are wanted by the city’s authorities have been granted asylum in Great Britain and Australia, respectively.
