The Ranch fire was reported just after 2:30 p.m. near Bowen Ranch Road and Coxey Truck Trail. By 5:45 p.m., the blaze had grown to 2,000 acres, fueled by high winds and low humidity.
The blaze, dubbed the Ranch Fire, was first reported about 1:35 p.m. in the area of Bowden Ranch Road and Coxey Truck Trail, just south of Apple Valley, according to Apple Valley Fire Department logs.
The vegetation fire sparked at roughly 1:45 p.m. Tuesday near Bowen Ranch Road. The evacuation order applies to residents in the area from Milpas Drive to High Road, south of Highway 18.
