The Miami Dolphins have placed Alexander Mattison on injured reserve after he suffered a season-ending neck injury.

The surgery took place in Chicago on Sunday after Mattison injured his neck during the Dolphins' preseason game vs. the Bears. He was taken to a local hospital via ambulance from the game to undergo surgery, ESPN's Adam Schefter added. While he’s expected to make a full recovery, he will not be available for the Dolphins this year.

The season is over for a Miami Dolphins player who was injured in Sunday's pre-season game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. Running back Alexander Mattison injured his neck during the game and was taken by an ambulance to a local hospital where he underwent season-ending surgery.
