Bangladesh is ramping up payments to Adani Power after the Indian conglomerate reportedly cut electricity supplies by half because of an unpaid $800m bill. Two senior government officials told the BBC they are already processing partial payments to Adani, which supplies 10% of the electricity used by Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is accelerating payment of more than $800 million it owes Adani Power ahead of a Nov. 7 deadline set by the Indian company, which has cut electricity exports to Bangladesh by more than half,

The company in a letter, dated October 27, said that if the bills are not paid, it shall be constrained to take remedial action under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) by suspending the power supply on October 31.

PDB has been paying approximately $18 million weekly, although current charges exceed $22 million, contributing to growing unpaid balances.

The company has given Bangladesh a deadline of November 7 for the fulfillment of the unpaid dues amounting to $846 million.

Adani has been pressing the interim government to pay the dues since they took charge after the ouster of then prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
