The chase began Saturday at about 5 p.m. after police received a call concerning an erratic driver in a black pickup in Temple, about 25 miles from the eastern Texas city of Killeen, Washko said.

In a press conference held at the Killeen mall, Texas DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko addressed the incident that ended in one dead and five injured Saturday.

The Temple Mall is currently owned and operated by Kohan Real Estate Group, which took ownership of the property in October 2021.
