Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s attempt to block a voter registration drive in one of his state’s most populous urban counties — and biggest Democratic strongholds — has failed in state district court.

A Texas district court judge on Monday denied a request by Attorney General Ken Paxton to block a Bexar County plan to mail voter registration forms to county residents ahead of the November election,

Paxton requested to block a plan from Bexar county to mail registration applications with an outside vendor. The request was moot, according to the judge.

In a sweeping round of legal action Tuesday morning, county officials sideswiped a lawsuit Paxton filed in a state District Court seeking to halt voter registration efforts in Travis County by filing a "notice of removal" in federal court,
