New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic socialist, is facing backlash over his three-day wedding celebrations with artist Rama Duwaji at his family’s lavish compound in Uganda last week.

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic socialist, reportedly held a lavish wedding celebration at a private compound in Uganda.

While Mamdani and his bride, 27-year-old artist Rama Duwaji, eloped quietly in Dubai earlier this year, the celebration in Uganda was their official family gathering-held at the luxurious residence of Mamdani’s parents, acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair and political theorist Mahmood Mamdani.
