When Francisco Lindor went down with a back injury last Friday in Philadelphia, the Mets’ playoff prospects seemed to be in serious trouble. But Luisangel Acuña has come up and taken Queens by storm.

The Mets recently acquired infielder Eddy Alvarez from the Boston Red Sox after learning second baseman Jeff McNeil would miss the remainder of the season with a broken wrist. Acuña would appear to bring a more well-rounded game to the table, making him the kind of upgrade that can help influence a tight playoff race during the home stretch.

Lindor wrenched his back during Friday night's victory at Philadelphia, and the Mets called up Luisangel Acuña from Triple-A Syracuse the following day. He singled twice in his major league debut, then quickly came off the bench Sunday when Lindor exited early with recurring pain.
