A domestic violence suspect barricaded in an apartment complex in the south Natomas area was found dead when authorities were able to get inside, Sacramento police said late Friday morning.

A police tactical team is now at the complex in the 2700 block of Orchard Lane in the Willowcreek neighborhood with crisis negotiators called in to contact the suspect barricaded inside one of the residences, Sacramento police said just after 6 a.m.

A Cook County judge who allowed a man later accused of killing his wife to be released on electronic monitoring will no longer hear domestic violence cases, Chief Judge Timothy Evans announced Thursday.

There had been calls for months to reassign Judge Thomas Nowinski to be reassigned after the stabbing that killed Lacramioara Beldie​, 54.

Judge Thomas Nowinski made the request himself to be reassigned from the Domestic Violence Division to hearing misdemeanor and traffic cases.
