The gray seal, named “Chappy,” was admitted to the Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Clinic on Feb. 16 after being discovered near the downtown of New Haven, Connecticut. While he was initially recovering from dehydration, malnutrition, and mild pneumonia, he eventually succumbed to gastrointestinal issues.
According to the aquarium, the gray seal pup found and rescued in New Haven died from gastrointestinal issues that "were too severe to treat."
